OUR IMPACT

The Basic Needs Gap

Across Georgia and the nation, families are facing a growing crisis of unmet basic needs—essentials like diapers and period products that are critical to daily life, but out of reach for too many.

Helping Mamas is closing this gap. One diaper, one period product, one family at a time.

The Basic Needs Gap Explained

The need for basic necessities in our communities reflects systems that are not working for families. In response, Helping Mamas has evolved from addressing diaper need alone to closing the broader basic needs gap that limits stability and opportunity for parents and children. Our impact goes beyond distribution. Through trusted partnerships and responsive programs, we meet immediate needs while reducing the everyday barriers created when essentials are out of reach. When families can rely on consistent access to basics, they gain the stability needed to stay healthy, remain in the workforce, and care for their children with dignity.

Voices of the Families We Serve

"Our rent had just increased, and my short-term disability had not yet kicked in. My husband had to take time off to be there with me and my baby because we did not have immediate family members in town who could act as a support system. Thanks to the Nursey Needs Program through Helping Mamas, we did not have to purchase diapers or wipes for 3 months of the baby’s infancy. The pack 'n play is currently the baby’s sleeping quarters and the car seat is a godsend because we have two cars and now do not have to keep meeting to swap the base of the car between jobs, lunch breaks, and baby drop-offs and pickups."

Our Reach Across Georgia

Helping Mamas is deeply committed to supporting rural communities alongside urban areas. Diaper need and period poverty aren’t defined by geography—so we continue working to build partnerships in every county across Georgia and the Southeast.
